Avelair have recently supplied to an OEM customer a 15kW variable speed gas compressor suitable for compressing natural grid gas up to 10 bar pressure. The compressor is certified to ATEX Zone 2 with the electrical control in a safe area.
The system has multiple safety features ensuring an absolute risk free solution for compressing gas. The compressor is fitted with a zone 1 ventilation fan with air flow switch that will inhibit the compressor operation if the fan is not working. Furthermore a gas monitor checks the gas concentration within the enclosure inhibiting operation if an unsafe gas mixture is present.
The package includes ATEX Zone 2 trace heating suitable for temperatures down to -5°C as it is to be installed outside. They are suitable for all types of gas including methane, biogas, and grid gas to name a few. Please contact us for further details.
This year, Avelair will be exhibiting our range of rotary screw gas compressors at the 2012 Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham. Anaerobic digestion is a natural process which converts organic matter such as household food and garden waste, farm slurry, waste from food processing plants and supermarkets, into energy. The main products resulting from anaerobic digestion are biogas (a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide), which is very similar to natural gas, and digestate, a low level fertilizer. The biogas can then be compressed for use as a biofuel.
Our range of gas compressors are available from 2.2 kW up to 160 kW and up to 15 bar pressure – fixed speed or variable speed. They are ATEX zone 2 rated for use with hazourdous gases.

Avelair have recently supplied one order for 22 rotary screw air compressors to its French distributor in Paris. The compressors were base mounted 5.5 kW up to 11kW, 8 bar rotary screw compressors with phase detection. The order was placed as the end customer required a highly reliable fleet of hire compressors with full technical backup.

Avelair have supplied another WIMES compliant compressed air skid package into the water industry. The skid offers ISO 8673 class 1 quality air and has been manufactured to the “Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Specifications” . The package offers full duty standby compressor with food grade oil, air treatment package and receivers all centrally controlled by a main control panel with one point electrical connection.
Avelair have recently supplied three new 90 kW Variable speed Gas compressors into the West Midlands suitable for compressing natural gas taken from main UK gas grid.
The Gas compressors are being used to pressurise the grid gas from 250 milibar to 5.12 bar gauge working pressure. The equipment has been manufactured to ATEX zone 2 certification ensuring absolute safe operatation on site.
